Presidents' Day with the Racing Presidents

Well, this is my first post.  I have always wanted to do a blog on the Nationals, and so I decided now was the perfect time since I am anxiously waiting for baseball season to start.  I can't believe it is a little over a month away!  My husband Darren and I really wanted to make it down to Florida for spring training this year but it just did not work out with our schedules.  That work thing always gets in the way!

So, we decided to head downtown this past weekend.  The National Portrait Gallery was having a series of President's Day events, one of which was getting your picture taken with the Washington Nationals Racing Presidents.  I am very big on scrap-booking, so I take any chance I can to get more pictures for my albums.  Even if it means I may be one of the oldest people at the event!  What can I say...I am a kid at heart.  Of course, we walked around the gallery to enjoy the different exhibits as well.  This is one of my favorite museums in Washington, DC.  I highly recommend it to anyone who has not been there before!

Since we were downtown, we decided to take the metro over to The Navy Yard to check out the new Nationals stadium.  Unfortunately we could not get very close, because we were turned away by a police officer.  But we were able to get a few pictures and from what we could see, it looks fantastic.  I am counting down the days to Opening Day next month!

welcome to mlblogs!

i also grew up in the DC area (Fairfax County and Montgomery County).. i cheered for the Redskins but as far as baseball, i've rooted for the Yankees (although i did go to an Orioles game at Memorial Stadium once)

i know you're here for the Nationals, but i was wondering what you think of Jim Zorn as the new coach of the Redskins?

I am a huge Skins fan as well! I have to say that I really wanted Gregg Williams as the next coach but based on the other candidates we had to choose from, I do think Jim Zorn was probably the next best choice. I just wish we could get rid of Vinny Cerrato and Dan Snyder!

Welcome to MLBlogs. Nice to have another Nats fan around here. It’s been kinda lonely.
